Oil pans hold the oil that is used in the engine. Oil pans are specific to the year, make and engine, and also the car line. As an example, a Camaro oil pan is not the same as a Corvette oil pan, because they use different chassis, suspension, and exhaust. Also, most oil pans are specific to the rear main seal style, and sometimes the timing cover. A crushed oil pan can restrict flow to the oil pump pickup, so you never want to continually drive around with a crushed oil pan.
