Gauge clusters relay the data from the engine for the driver to see. The instrument panel cluster itself is just the display. Depending on the year of the vehicle, either sensors on the motor, or the PCM transmits the data to the gauge cluster.

Before you assume your gauge cluster is faulty, you should consult your factory service manual and/or use a hand-held scanner to compare data to what the gauges are reading. It is not uncommon to find a damaged coolant sender wire, a broken/faulty oil pressure sender, or a rusty fuel sender, which will cause incorrect full low or full high display on the gauge cluster.

Most clusters are year specific, and cannot be interchanged. Some older models can be interchanged (please contact us for compatibility). Some gauge clusters look similar, but are not, like a 6k tach reading vs a 5k tach reading.
