Hatches were on 82-02 models, trunk lids (or deck lids) were on 81 and older models. 82-92 models had a glass hatch with metal trim, 93-02 models had a glass hatch with fiberglass trim. 85-86 models had a 3rd brake light on the outside of the glass, 91-92 models had the 3rd brake light on the inside of the glass, 87-90 as well as 93-02 models had the 3rd brake light in the rear spoiler. Typically, you can swap a Trans Am hatch onto a Firebird as long as you are using the same year to keep the brake light legal. As info, the 93-02 Firebird hatches did not have a removable spoiler, all other models the spoiler was removable.
