Antennas bring the radio frequency (RF) to the tuner. Most cars had a stationary antenna (fixed, non-movable mast). Some cars had a power antenna (electrically controlled). Power antennas can be added to some models with minimal wiring additions. 1992 and older models were operated by a relay system. 1995 and later models were operated by the stereo, therefor, for automatic operation via stereo control, the stereo must be changed with one that originally had a power antenna option, otherwise, the antenna will need to be controlled by the ignition switch.
